The Spoken Word Podcast
FUGENGOLD IS THE SPOKEN WORD SERIES THAT WILL CHANGE THE WAY YOU LOOK AT EVERYDAY LIFE. THE TWO PRESENTERS, HIRAD AND MARC, TAKE AN ENTERTAINING, ENLIGHTENING, AND HUMOROUS LOOK AT THE ENCHANTING FRACTURES (“FUGEN”) OF OUR LIVES. THE MOMENTS IN WHICH WE FALL OUT OF OUR ROLES, STUMBLE OUT OF OUR EVERYDAY LIFE AND GET THE CHANCE TO SEE THE WORLD FROM A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE. IN THIS FORMAT THEY GILD THESE CRACKS – TO REAL FUGENGOLD.
THE CONCEPT
Fugengold deals with the fractures of our lives. It is about small, everyday cracks in daily routines. The new, the strange, the unknown, the accidental, and the wonderfully broken. It focusses on everything that we usually ignore or do not take the time to recognize the opportunity in. This ranges from the question of what excessive social media consumption does to you, to the question of your life’s work.
Unlike the many chatty podcasts out there, Fugengold strives to open up new perspectives for listeners – with the help of great thinkers and well-researched examples from the humanities, science, literature, and the digital media society. Here pop meets high culture, philosophy meets internet memes and weird everyday moments meet meaningful rays of hope. The two presenters manage to lead the audience on exciting and insightful intellectual paths with humor and depth.
The format
In the podcast world, Fugengold fills the gap between editorial, sophisticated thought, and entertaining, humorous conversations. New episodes, about one hour each, appear weekly on their own website as well as on popular platforms such as Spotify, iTunes, and others.
Each episode is released with a blog article and accompanying material such as sources, reading recommendations, and further content. Since 2020, individual podcast episodes are also recorded live and with an audience.
